Bill Marcy, local neighbor and outdoorsman, is available to drive you to scenic trailheads at the end of rough, narrow, dirt or gravel roads and accompany you on hikes. Don’t miss this opportunity to see famous locations, take fabulous photographs, enjoy nature as you won’t see it anywhere else and create one-of-a-kind memories of your trip to the Gila area.

 

 

Locations

1.      Turkey Creek Road to the Gila River and Canyon Hike.  Scenic 1 hour drive over mountainous, dirt and gravel roads with spectacular views to the Gila River and a easy-to-moderate hike up a beautiful canyon. $45/person (min. 2 people)

2.      Mineral Creek Trailhead to hiking options. Pass historic Cooney Tomb to a hiking trail along Mineral Creek that leads to the famous ghost town of Cooney and its mines. Depending on your interests, you can take a moderate hike 3 ½ miles to the remains of the old mining town of Cooney - once home to 600 miners. If interested you can continue approximately ½ mile to the site of the actual Cooney mine which produced $80,000,000 of gold and silver in the 1880s. $65/person (min. 2 people)

3.      Other destinations available and durations are flexible to meet your interests and abilities. Pack a lunch; bring sufficient water (3 24oz bottles), sunscreen, and appropriate shoes for hiking on uneven terrain or across water.
